Sok's Testimony

A short story of a lady's life and the part Ream's dad played in it.

The testimony of a lady named Sok, is was 61 at the time. She lived in the Yeam Kow village in the Provence of Takoe. She was a very kind woman but also very poor. She made her living as a witch doctor, worshiping Satin, believing in demons and practicing witch craft. People in the village would go to her when they where sick or wanted to know the future. They would usually bring meat or fruit for a sacrifice to the dark spirits. This practice has gone on for many years in Cambodia, the people are afraid of the evil spirits and worship many gods.

Even though Sok is a witch doctor and tries to help others with their sicknesses she was sick as well. She made many sacrifices and offerings trying to have the demons heal her. She felt hopeless because she was not getting better.

Pastor Khon had been to her village to tell people the good news of Jesus the Christ. He told them that Jesus is the true God and our Savior. When Sok had heard a bout Jesus from some one who had spoken to pastor Khon, she sent for him right away.

Pastor Khon had asked some members of the church to come with him because he strongly believes where two or more are gathered God is there. When they arrived they sat and told her about Jesus and that she needed to invite him into her heart so she can be free from the dark spirits and she needed to stop what she was doing. Sok agreed and prayed to accepted Jesus as her savior.

Not long after she began to feel better, and better until she was completely healed and had more energy that before. Her faith also got stronger and stronger. She threw all her witch craft things away and got rid of the spirit houses for around the house.

Sok had changed her life completely, she went to church and told everyone she knew about how she had been saved. She even opened her house for bible studies and worshiping the Lord. She was also asked to visit other churches to tell the people of her change. Her healing and conversion really amazed and encouraged others.

Since she had given her heart to the Lord she was strong and healthy. She was now 67 years old and planting rice in her field, during the month of December. Everyone returns from work to eat lunch and take a nap in Cambodia because it is to hot to work. But this day as she napped she peacefully went to sleep with the Lord.

Like the story of so many, no matter how bad we are or what we have done Christ forgives and redeems. Also Remember that we do not have to be this bad or be really evil to still need forgiveness.
