We've run out of space on our blog for photos.  Any ideas please let us know.

We do have a face book page your welcome to visit.  This has become a place for a lot of our past photos pretty much unedited all the way back from 2006.  We have posted up to 2010 right now.

A Photo Gem

Once a while a real treat turns up when a family finds a photo of our children and is willing to share it with us.

Our God is a BIG God.

According to a local witch doctor our school is to powerful for her to enter or come near.

Yes, just like the Dracula or Werewolf movies this person that Satan uses could not physically enter the property the other day to drop her niece off at school.

It's a common part of our daily prayer that the kids at school would be protected and blessed that their minds would be open learning and the hearts turned to Christ.
It was very obvious today that these prayers are being answered.

So here is how it played out.

Chenda use to be on staff at the orphanage before she started at the school.  Before she came to live with us she lived near a corrupt Christian church.  She and others knew quite well how the pastor was a terrible guy taking advantage of the people.  When Chenda came to work with us and saw the Jesus us in our lives as a very different Jesus that they preached in her village.  It wasn't long before Chenda became a Christian and I actually was blessed to help baptize her.  Chenda told us not long ago she would have never become a Christian if she hadn't met us; I think God would have still called on her but her kind comment was a blessing for us to hear.  Today Chenda is our Kindergarten teacher and is still a wonderful believing sister and single I might add ;)

Chenda only works in the morning with the K classes and in the after noon she's is helping the office with public relations.  This week she went around checking up on families that have asked for a scholarship to attend school for free; we want to confirm that they really need the help as $5 bucks a month isn't that much.  The house she checked on today had a lot of nice cars in the drive way.  Chenda thought they might be having a party and wanted to leave but was invited in anyways.  Turns out the child's family shares a property with her aunt.
The child's family has very little but her aunt is better off but her aunt is also witch doctor.  The aunt had a lot of business this week because of the Halloween type holiday they are celebrating right now.  The Aunt was the one who received Chenda and asked her a number of questions and also told Chenda how she felt about us.
First she asked Chenda how she felt coming onto her property.  Chenda replied fine though she thought there was a party going on.
Then the Aunt said she tried to take her niece to the school the other day and she couldn't come near the place.  She told Chenda it was to powerful for her to go near.   The aunt witch doctor also has half of her hair in a natty dreadlock and she said her hair was tingling and her hair would not let her come.  Evidently the hair bit is a part of her "manifestation" that she uses or is used by to preform her craft.

What I am hearing from the story today that was shared is that our God is powerful and hers is not.  There is power in the blood.  There is power in prayer, We are being used and we are being protected.

I think it is awesome for Chenda and total conformation for her that day that God is in her, that she is saved and has nothing to fear.  If Chenda's ever wondered I'm I saved this was the big "Yes you are".

I can't think of a more powerful testimony to the work that is being done here than this story that was shared  today.  God has a hedge around us.  What a powerful push this has been for us.  It makes me want to bounce around the room doing some sort of happy dance.  We are winning..

Our God is a BIG God.

Amen

Big News.
We had our inspection today.
The last two years we have not received word on our scores.
So today we asked about our score last year we where told that we were the number one orphanage in the province/state that we missed only 3 points last year.  97% out of 100% because there were 3 rules that were new they didn't tell us about.
This year we received 99% with only 1 new rule they didn't tell us about.

We are told that we will receive a medal of honor and a plaque   from the Social Affair for last year.  Not sure what the medal of honor means but well take it.  I think we will also be receiving special guests as well.

We will also be asked to train people, government staff and other orphanage workers.  Not sure what this will mean either.

The main thing is we've moved from number 2 to number 1 and without a doubt will receive 1st place again this year.

I will have to see where we rank in the country, I'll let you know if I find out.

We certainly have to thank the children, the staff, my Wife, our church and the people who supported us over the years.

Thank you

Update

Solida is getting a lot of response but we do not have answers yet.

I don't believe this is emergency and things will happen when they are meant to so we are not in any big rush.

I have heard from two people that I know and they have shared their own personal stories with me.
From a story of healing to a story of survival both inspiration from where I least expected it.

We are coming to the understanding that an operation or shunt maybe more dangerous than the problem itself.   As we continue to search the step I think we will focus the most on is therapy making sure she has something available to occupy her while she sit in a hammock all day.  If we can help with her intelligence and her body does grow into fit her head she won't be to far behind in life.  Also physical therapy to focus on her health and making her strong enough to walk when the time comes.

For the next couple weeks the school and teams will take president over are ability to help Solida until Mid October.  Like I said we don't believe this to be an emergency as she has had this problem for a while and she currently very healthy.

I do hope to have very good news for you in regards to positive changes in our schools ministry very soon
These possible changes for the school will also have a wonderful effect on the orphanage.
I hope to share the news this month.

Thank you for every ones stories and prayers for Solida.

Solida Pho

There are circumstantial surrounding this little girl that I believe God is going to do something.
What I am not sure yet, but we are seeing connections to something.
It might lead to a healing, it might just be touching our hearts again or it might only be to give confirmation to a future doctor of where she might choose to work in the future we don't know but we are going to find out.

The story.
Wut came to me yesterday asking to go see a baby with a large head.
I asked her why because I didn't want her gawking at someone with a problem.
Her reply was "because I had never seen a child like that before".  As I was about to tell her "no" she finished her sentence with "I want to pray for her and tell them about God".  Honesty and a good reason so we went.

I searched on the internet to know a little more about what I was going to see, questions to ask and be prepared on how we might be able to help or not.  We also stopped by quickly to talk with my father in-law to let him know what we were doing that he is okay and aware.

We went out with one of our guest Ginny who desires to be a doctor and SreyWut to find one of our staff's house.  Khan one of our caretakers lives close to the babies house and is the one that told Wut about the baby.  We would ask Khan to introduce us to the family.
Khan was out planting rice when we arrived and was slightly shy about her appearance but offered to take us anyway.   About 10 minutes later we arrived at an old cement house on a dirt road Khan asked the family if we could see and talk to them about their child.  The family was happy and said it was alright.

Who is she?
Solida Pho a girl was born April 23rd 2009
So she has just turned 3 years old 4 months ago, she is a beautiful happy little girl with a very real need.  She is very healthy, very alert and extremely happy to have visitors.

She was born with Hydrocephalus or with swelling on the brain, you can read about on the attached link below if you wish.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocephalus

Basically she needs what is called a "shunt", a shunt will let the fluids out, reducing the pressure on the brain and stop her head from growing.

What are we doing?
Right now we are trying to make contact with some doctors here that might be able to help her.
They said yesterday they try and only work on adults 13 years and up. The hospital they referred us to in the past has turned them down saying they are unable to help.
So will send out some emails and see if I get any leads.

What can you do?
For now just pray.  Pray for God's will and that we would find a doctor to help.

Are you a surgeon or know one who is?
They can contact us.

With answers might come other request.

Warning;
This picture might be difficult to look at, it is not altered.  I did only take one photo and she is oddly positioned so she looks a little funny in the photo.  I was up by her head and she is tilting looking at me take the picture.

She is a beautiful little girl, alert, aware, responsive if I had the time and they would let me I would scoop her up and take her home with me.

8 pounds by March 15th

I've been given the official "Okay" by the "Boss" to let people know 2 things.

#1. We were do in the USA Jan 2013 but this has been delayed until April or May of 2013.

Reason being;

#2.  Ream will be to large to fit into her seat on the plane because,,,,,,, we have decided to increase our retirement plan by have another child.

For some this will cause sadness and distress; an "Oh Great, just what we need another Carson reeking havoc on this world" if you will.

For others and ourselves this will be a "Wonderful; another Carson to help change the world".
If we can't get workers into the field we make them.  Just kidding.  We have wonderful guest helping us.

It's our hopes and desires that it would be a Girl.  Mother in-law has pleaded with us not to have another boy and my sister in-law has counted on her knuckles and says it will be a girl.
We haven't thrown the bones yet but things sound good.  "being silly"

Our prayers are that God would design this new child with His purpose in mind to do His will.

We'd ask the Lord to make him a mighty man of valor, a man of honor, strong and humble, kind and loving; A Godly man.

OR

We'd ask the Lord to make her a woman of strength and wisdom, full of grace and beauty allow her inner beauty to shine brighter than her physical.  Make her a woman of great personality, full kindness and love.
A Godly woman.

We would ask that the child being created inside Ream to be blessed with talents, able accomplish great things and survive all the world deals out; that he/she would run the race and finish well.  We ask that he or she would be free from illness and full of life and to love their God and creator with all their heart and mind.

We would also ask that we would continue to be better parents, to learn our lessons early and never forget them.

Thank the Lord for His blessings and mercies, neither we deserve but humbly accept.

Kit, Ream, Samuel, Joseph, and ???????

To the Zoo

Just some quick pictures of our trip to the zoo; I guess its last month now.
We had another orphanage come out for the morning to play and hang out.
After lunch we all drove to the zoo for the rest of the day.

We had two cameras donated to us recently that are for the kids to use.  So the next few photos below were taken by the children.

Other pictures I took at the zoo.

Got to love these home made bee bee guns and cross bows.
It's funny Cambodia gun (U.N.) laws outlaw these weapons and pretty much any propelled object designed for hunting or protecting yourself.

One of our kids lost his snacks in the petting part of the zoo.

Pretty cool, there are two white deer at the zoo now

The bear exhibit has a new play area.

It took some convincing to get Joe on the spider

Sam

I called this the sitting tree.  We could probably sit the entire orphanage in its wrangled branches.

Rosa

Just as it started to rain we got to see the baby elephant.  I was surprised to see it had such long tusk, you'd figure they'd get them when they grew up a bit.

I am always fascinated by the bugs I find here.  I have a few more photos of crazy, cool bugs I still need to down load for next posting.

Birthday and Holiday

Last birthday we spent at the lake, was a little different and a lot of fun.

We had a holiday recently.  The girls playing kitchen, the Legos are a delicacy.

A couple of the kids weren't able to go home for the last holiday so they came with Ream and I for a day of fun in the city, along with all my nieces and nephews.

Sam's first really big ride.
Sam said he wasn't scared but the video later showed him laying in his cousins lap.
He also didn't feel to good after that.

Joe and SoThy on the roller coaster

Sam and Joe in the hamster balls which really wore them out.
