Back on the mountain

We had no school this Wednesday so we went back to the mountain.
It is the first time we have been as a whole group. Normally a couple, mostly older boys have school and are unable to go.
This caught my eye. Might make for a cool tattoo. Kind of a little tribal Mike Tyson look.
Vietnam in the Back ground.

Kyo and Jon

Coming back from the quicky mart. One of the fun things about this trip was; a lot of the trees had some sort of fruit on them. The girls where excited to find this vine in one of the fallen walls of the temple.
Weed
Tee

These where a lot of fun this trip. The boys spent a lot of time chasing the girls mostly their caretakers who where completely frightened by them.
Richard Hall brought these fun little rocket balloons over, which was a big hit for the day.

After we had done some cleaning we realized we had become a gecko farm to. There where about a dozen more that ended up breaking.
I asked the children if the wanted eggs with their rice that morning.
I also told the cook we could save the kitchen some money because these where free. No one thought my ideas where any good.
For a people who will eat anything I am finding a lot they will not eat.
Since know one wants to eat hard boiled geckos we put them in a clear box to watch them hatch.
We are about a week from Summer and I can not wait. I think I am more excited than the children. The times when I find free time it seems the children are not available to play with. So having them around more will be good for me.
Ream has been pretty excited with the children's bible studies lately. Every since Pastor Pat and Pastor Barry left the children have been eager to ask questions; and really good ones at that.
Like did God change the snake at the garden of Eden when he was cursed to crawl?
Or how can a woman be made and adulterer through her husbands divorcing her?
How come God blessed men with many wives? How was many wives sinful ? Was the man that Killed Saul cursed if Saul was already dying?
I am really excited with their school scores.
We will be making some changes to the children's schedules for the Summer. Also to the programs we have them do. For a little while we will shift their focus to helping with the pigs.
We are working on keeping more pig this year to raise funds to help combat the rising cost that are effecting the world today. Once the pigs are older and begin to produce we will be able to hire a laborer that will just concentrate on animals.
then we will shift the children back into planting.
This Summer we are planning to take the children to the beach again and they are excited about that. I had so much fun with the children last time finding shells and money.
The beach we go to there is always money floating out there and last time a friend found some gold rings. People don't know and go to the beach with every thing on and lose it.
I will take Richards metal detector this time and see what we can see.
You know; as far as I know there are no teams coming this Summer. You could share in all this fun if you wished. Don Gordon at Calvary Chapel Fallbrook could help you get here.
Mary is trying to put out a small news letter update so you should look for that.
Thank you all for your continued support how ever and what ever you are doing we are thankful for it.
God Bless

Bikes, boys and birds

The two bicycles on the right front are a recent donation to the orphanage than the children really appreciate. Thank you

Play time next door.

Play time at our house involves crocodiles,

Two really cool bird nest
This is the females nest, a little entrance and a place for the eggs to rest. Kind of common I have seen some like these before.
This is the males bachelor pad. A little canopy with a perch underneath and something I have not seen before.
We watched a nature film called EARTH which was pretty cool if you do not pay any attention to the guy ramble on about evolution and 25 million years old.
The animals and their stories are so fascinating you just sit in Aw of Gods creation. It is a must see. The birds in this movie will shock you.

The children are doing really great 15 out of 19 children that get scores in school are top 7 in the class.

#1 in there class is Rachana, Tong

April team.

Pastor Pat, Pastor Barry and Richard Hall came to visit from our home church.
Mostly to introduce P. Barry to the work as he looks at bringing some youth over.

The children really like playing base ball with the team and impressed the Americans as well. They liked Barry he has lots of practice with children.

Richard really made a big difference to some of the girls swings. He would straiten them up and they would hit the ball really far.

P. Pat stops to look at the village police hut.
The team made a little trip to the near by mountain for a little hike. They also got to take the children they sponsor which made the trip really fun.
At Angkor Wat Richard and I stopped to take a picture with the local natives. :)

lunch, storms and babies

I am sorry there are no pictures for breakfast. It was to early.
For our quarterly best child award instead of a toy we decided to have a series of meals with mom and dad.
1. got breakfast - lunch & dinner
2. got lunch & dinner
3. got dinner

We did not count on 4 people tying for number 2 and 2 people tying for number 3 so instead of 3 people for meals we had 7.
But I was happy to have them.
I like the opportunity to have the children eat something different.

So Tong ate breakfast with us. (Not pictured)
He ate mango pancakes with bacon and scrambled eggs and juice.

Tong
Channee, Chi, Te-a and Tee ate lunch with us and they had 2 hamburgers french fries and soda.

Tong,
Channee, Chi, Te-a, Tee
Tate and Lim ate dinner with us and we ate fajitas with lime chips, salsa and hot chocolate.
Everyone was pretty happy. They like the salsa, a little hot for Te-a though.

Storms again. It is funny the last spiritual holiday we had a horrible lightning storm and I thought what a weird storm to come out of no where. That was in October a ghost holiday.

This time it is the sacrifice to your ancestors holiday and again a crazy lightning storm comes up.

I asked Ream what the people think about this.
She say they think it has something to do with the spirits either being happy or mad.
I am pretty sure it is not the spirits and I am sure HE is not happy. There is no wander to the reasons why this country has had such troubled times through out their history.
You can't please 2 masters.
These last 2 pictures are striking next to Rachanas house.

Some good news more baby pigs 14 of them for a total of 36.

really pretty colors and a real mix, some completely pink and some almost black.

Quite the package, mom delivered over 4 hours time. It is unusual because they normally come every 15 minutes once they start. The first came about an hour before the next, for a while we thought we would have to start pulling them out.
I really like these two black ones.

This cuty is Tripod it was so squished in there his leg grew backwards. I am going to try and make a little wheel chair for it but we are not sure it will survive. Mom has 13 nipples and there are 14 babies so Tripod has a difficult time getting in there. We switch it out when we can but it is hard to do and not have the mom jumping up.
You do not want the mom jumping up all the time because the piglets get in the way and get hurt.
Older litter, cement was hurting the pads on moms feet so we put some dirt down. These babies go to market around 5 days. The other goes in 2 days. But we will probably keep some for breading. we are told by many people we have the biggest babies in the village.
